Assessment Review Board Complaint Form

Assessment Information 2010

ASSESSMENT AND TAX NOTICE INFORMATION

Combined 2010 assessment and tax notice on Claresholm properties have been sent out. Anyone with questions or concerns regarding the assessment information should follow these steps:

1.     First, to discuss your assessment information or request assessment roll information on your property (or limited assessment information on comparable properties) contact the Taxation Department at the Town Office located at 221 - 45 Avenue West or call 403-625-3381.

2.     If after you have received information on your assessment and still have questions and wish to speak to the Town’s assessor, you can make an appointment by contacting the Town Office to find out available dates and times.

3.     If after meeting with the assessor you still disagree with your assessment you can appeal by filling out the standardized “Assessment Review Board Complaint” form which is available both at the Town of Claresholm Administration Office and on the Town’s website www.townofclaresholm.com

4.     Once the complaint is filled out completely, you must bring it into the Town Office and file it with the Assessment Review Board Clerk, Kris Holbeck, along with a $50.00 per parcel appeal fee.

5.     The deadline to have your appeal form and fee into the clerk is AUGUST 9, 2010 BY 4 PM.

6.     After all appeals have been received the Clerk will schedule the Assessment Review Board Hearings, notify the appellants and schedule times for the individual hearings.

7.     If you wish to have an agent represent your appeal, you must fill out a standard “Agent Authorization” form (also available at the Town Office and on the left hand side of this page). This form must accompany your “Assessment Review Board Complaint” form (also on the left hand side of this page).

PLEASE REMEMBER, THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT ACT DOES NOT ALLOW TAXES TO BE APPEALED. YOU CAN ONLY APPEAL YOUR ASSESSMENT.
